Shannon- Owner

My name is Shannon and I began Cookeville K9 n Friends in 2015!

I graduated Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology in 2009, with an Associates in Applied Sciences for veterinary medicine. I did a 3 month internship with the Texas A&M Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where I was able to experience many aspects of veterinary medicine and encounter some fun patients. Having explored working in a few veterinary hospitals, I found that wasnt quite what I was looking for. I then spent 3 years as a veterinary technician for the Humane Society of Missouri, this has fueled my love of working with all types of animals, the rescue field, and has honed my handling skills. My final transition before Cookeville K9, was managing a brand new dog daycare and boarding facility. Having helped build it up from scratch, I knew I was ready for my own facility.

I have cared for dogs, cats, rabbits, bearded dragons, rats, snakes, iguanas, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, pigs, sugar gliders, and more!

In my spare time, I typically create snuffle mats, rope toys, cat toys, and cut bandanas for our groom pups. If you see me at TJ Maxx, I might be stocking my ever growing obsession with dog toys! I love to support rescue and have been happy to be a supporter of AARF.

Lately, I have taken a foray into the grooming world. I have a passion for grooming doodles and shih tzus. I am also a huge fan of an outline trim on Australian Shepherds!

Kendra has always been in love with animals and caring for others. She was the kid that brought all the strays home! Kendra has become certified in Pet First Aid and CPR!

Hannah- Kennel Technician/Social Media Liaison

Hannah comes to with us with a passion for animals and a petsitting background. She has studied animal sciences at Tennessee Tech for a bit. Her energetic nature and bubbly personality has won all the pups over. Hannah is an asset to the kennel and we are very lucky to have her!

Hannah is now dog-mom to Vanna, the sweetest pittie that we fostered through AARF. Welcome to the foster fail crew Hannah!

Amanda- Kennel Technician

Amanda is a certified farm girl! She helped raise chickens, pigs, ducks, dogs, cats, goats, guinea fowl, and guinea pigs. She loves Australian Shepherds and fun herding breeds. Amanda loves to sing tunes at the top of her lungs, listen to music, and hang out with her brothers. We are happy to have Amanda’s exuberance at the kennel!

Caycee- Kennel Technician

Caycee has always been around animals from dogs and cats to donkeys and chickens. She loves working with them and came to us with a little kennel background already. She is a college student working towards a degree in the art field. Caycee is very family oriented and spends a lot of time with them when not working or in school.

Dawn- PRN Kennel Technician

Dawn not only works at the kennel, but you might see her friendly face at Food City! She has a fabulous country property and has hosted beautiful rural weddings in her barn for friends! She is a huge fan of her Mustang and other versions of the car! She absolutely loves dogs and loves to spoil all the pups she meets. Dawn is dog-mom to Bleu and Zoey. She recently added Bella to the mix! She took Bella in as a pregnant stray, helped her through her pregnancy, and weaned the pups until they were ready for rescue! She is now fostering pups in hopes to find them excellent homes! We might see wedding bells in Bleu and Bella’s future, though no more kiddos for those fixed fidos!
